The Big 50

I turn fifty tomorrow....sigh....

I have always had birthdays alligned with resolutions.....this year I hope that I will keep both.

I want to get in better shape. Luckily, my oldest daughter bikes, rock climbs, and swims several times a week. I don't rock climb...........but bike often and once was a competitive swimmer (albeit when I was younger). I was biking quite a bit when the weather was a bit nicer (we have been having 40's for a few weeks). It has got to get better.

I also want to umpire more often. There were years that I umped more than 250 games...........alas......I have fallen off.

But I am sure with the help of my friends here that I will be able to once again strive to get back into the swing. Happy new year all.

Joel

Well, ... you must be getting wiser, Joel. Attaboy!
You have one more year before your skin goes south and before your driver's license picture starts looking like someone else.
Enjoy.

You're just a pup! Let me know when you really get old.

Be nice.
That kid came here for sympathy, methinks.

Long time no see, Joel. I agree with Mike, you are just a pup.

Joel,
I'm agreeing with the others - you're a pup.

out of curiousity, what were your swimming events? I used to do the 100-fly & 400-free.

I swam the 50, 100, and 200 free along with the 100 fly and IM. My youngest daughter's boyfriend is a swimmer and I am jealous at the new pool the HS got last year. A big step up from what we had.

No sympathy for anyone that young, but very glad to see you, Joel, back on the forum. :)

Now I'll end before I get into a rant about our youth-obsessed society. :(

Actually, with the increase of activity in adults in recent years, I would dare say that society is less youth obsessed than it was, say, two decades ago. People are living longer, are more active...etc, and it seems to be paying off.

Of course, it could just be that I have gotten older. ;)
