Women's umpire apparel

Any women on this board, particularly those of the petite stature, find a reliable source of apparel? I'm having a hell of a time finding pants suited for behind the plate that do not come up to my chest, which of course makes it difficult to wear a chest protector. Just wondering if anyone has tricks of the trade, or found a website or even brand of department store pants that work?

How petite?

My daughter was about 5'4" when she umpired. The Fech women's pants fit OK... a bit high waisted, but compared to teen fashions (she was 17 at the time) just about anything is high waisted. Honigs also sells womens plate pants.

Very petite, 5' nothin. I'm having the "high waisted" problem, to the point that there is no way I can wear a chest protector and tuck in my shirt. I'll have to try the Fech kind. Anyone else have any advice?

re: chest protector. I cut the bottom off of my old basic chest protector for her so it would not go below her waist. You also might want to check out the Honigs K2 for a short protector.

Fech (Fechheimer) is also the uniform supplier to the USPS, so a general uniform shop that sells Fech may have a greater variety of small sizes than your typical umpire shop.

I moved to the honigs K2 a few months ago and love it.

Its definately not for females IMO.

I'd recommend the Schutt for her.

How about youth catcher gear? Possibly altered as Tom did above.
