Gear Thread

A few months ago, a suggestion had been brought forth regarding equipment trading and selling, with a particular focus on helping newer umpires get quality gear without having to pay full price. I would really like to see this happen, as I'm sure there are a number of umpires here who have equipment they no longer use that could greatly help a new umpire. Startup costs for umpires can be steep, especially when you get into fast pitch or modified pitch.

So the question becomes: what format would work best? With mick's permission, I'd like to put this in the form of a poll to see what everyone thinks would work best. This can then be sent to the site admin, who will make the final decision.

I won't be coming here that much anymore. I might check in now and again.

I am an "other".

It is my opinion that this board envelopes too wide an area to make it viable for regular use unless the two participants are near each other.

IOW, this should be something that is on local boards.

JMHO.

BTW, I host such a thread on my local umpire page.

Bumping this so it stays on top.

For what it's worth, I voted against a sticky thread for exactly the same reason I dislike "bumps" on message boards. IMO, if a thread is interesting, it will stay current on it's own. Artificial interest (bumps) and sticky's that keep something I'm not interested in locked to the top are counterintuitive to me.

Voted "other." Shipping costs, etc., make this impractical / infeasible for low end or well used (low value) equipment. What might make sense for here would be a place to post links to local umpire "flea market" sites.
