Can you take a swing at about 5 or 10 mph in order to create a slow roller towards an infielder in hopes of out running the play for an infield hit? Some one told me you can as long as you break your wrists to give it the look of a regular swing.

If you don't know what is your opinion... 1) Do whatever you can to get a hit. or 2) Cheap, wimpy way to get a hit. ???????????????

I am going to assume you are talking slowpitch, where bunting is illegal.

The rule says that you cannot bunt or intentionally "chop" the ball straight down into the ground. The rule does not talk about the speed of a swing.

So..if you can do it..it's legal

There is no rule regulating bat speed. If the bat was moving toward the ball at the time of contact, regardless of how fast, it is a legal swing.

When I played slow pitch, we had a guy who could take that weak full swing and hit soft liners over the pitcher's head for hits. The other team would scream, but the umps never ruled him out.

With the bats and balls of today, one of his soft liners might just make it over the fence.
