Verbal Interference
This past weekend during an ASA tournament, had the following.
ITB Runner on 3rd, 2 outs. Batter hits ground ball to the 3rd base side of pitcher, who fields the ball, turns to make throw to 1st, when the runner on 3rd starts "Here, Here". Action causes pitcher to turn and look, runner barely off bag, now turns back to late to get BR at 1st. I call DB interference, runner out. Natch offensive coach goes beserk and gets himself tossed from a very good ball game. Went two more ITB innings before his team loses. That was the first time I have ever called *verbal interference* since I started calling too many years ago. How many of you have ever had to call interference for Verbal action? glen

I've called it on a coach before, don't remember the sitch, but I was BU, the batter hit a line drive down the first base line and the offensive coach on that side of the field hollars "FOUL BALL" while the PU is pointing fair. The fielders stopped going for the ball and the runner kept on truckin'.
