The complainer doesn't know the difference between a leap and a hop? How would he know what a crow hop looks like?

After this video, the "messenger" probably will not get past the pre-game meeting.

I went from this You Tube video to one of Jennie Finch teaching and demonstrating the "leap and drag" technique of pitching. In the video she says that the leap and drag..."is totally legal."
Is this correct statement...in any rule set?
I have always had the understanding that if I saw a pitcher leap I was to call "ILLEGAL PITCH"
Until I saw this video I had never heard the term "leap and drag".
Can some of you more experienced FP umps help me out on this?
Thanks

To me, "leap and drag" is a contradication as if the pitcher is "dragging" it is not a leap.

I think this may be some coach/player term which they just don't realize is wrong.

They can drag out as far as they want, but if they get both feet airborne prior to the drag it is an illegal pitch.

Jenny may not realize that just because its legal for her and cat doesnt mean its legal for everyone.

I'm no pitching coach... not even close... but it is my understanding that "leap and drag" style is an inaccurate name (there is no illegal leap) that is used in contrast to the "stepping" style. Here is a description of the "leap and drag" pitching motion from a coaching web site:
Quote:

The overwhelming majority of girl and women pitchers use the LEAP-AND-DRAG method. These are the pitchers who take a huge leaping step...often several inches longer than their height...and drag their rear foot on the ground to avoid violating the leaping rule.

Because "leaping" is not permitted under girls' pitching rules, it is necessary to keep the push-off foot (or "drag foot") in contact with the ground until the stride foot lands.
