Dont Pass up Marietta GA
As an umpire community, Marietta GA has a remarkable reputation for hospitality and the way they conduct tournaments.
This years 14U - A was no exception.
Cobb County Parks and Recreation are simply the best. We were hit with storm after storm and delay after delay, but their expert crews worked their tails off and kept the fields playable.
Umpires were fed, fed again, then, fed again. Their home cooked menu of awesome dishes consisting of 3 squares a day plus all the snacks you can stand, was simply fantastic.
The area is full of history and I loved getting to visit various sites, battlefields, and monuments. We had a short day Tue and I was able to get some site seeing done.
I met AltUmpSteve and Tony. Very nice to put faces to names. The UICs out there are great and the umpires are very fun to be around and many are very skilled. Many times I found myself laughing; although, I had no clue wtf they just said! Fun times baby!
I was honored to be awarded the plate for the 5th place game and 1B for the championship game.
