Something new and different....

ASA 16u Western Nationals here in Phoenix this week.

Since I was assigned to a different national this year, I volunteered to help out at this one by keeping score. They even gave me a microphone to announce the game (that was fun!)

Here is the play that I wasn't quite sure how to score...

R1 at third, 2 outs.

B hits a fly ball (kind of a looping line drive) over foul territory near third base. F5 runs into R1, who is off the bag, as she (F5) attempts to catch the ball. Interference is called on R1 (my opinion - good call). Since R1 is the player that interfered, she is declared out, scored as an unassissted putout to the closest fielder (F5 in this case). By rule, the batter is also out as F5 could have caught the ball in flight without the interference. Since R1 is scored as the third out of the inning, how should the batter be scored?

I know she has completed her turn at bat by rule and the next batter listed in the lineup will leadoff the next inning, but how do I mark the scoresheet with regard to the batter?

IMO, also a putout to F5, the fielder whose play was interfered. Unassisted double play.
