Gentlemen,

I didn't get to talk to Merle last week (he had something going on with NFHS), but I did talk to Henry Pollard about ASA not putting their rules on line.

I'm sure the response will be unsatisfactory to some, but there are always those who are never satisfied.

I was told that ASA's contracts with the advertisers prevents them from offering them on the internet.

From a business view, that makes sense and I have no reason to doubt what I have been told.

Yep, a couple of them.

Seems like the advertisers would benefit from more people going to the website. Oh well, I can live without the rules on-line. The current rulebook gives me a good source of study material for my lunch time. Thanks for addressing the issue with the big boys.

I find it interesting that most of the advertisers have websites listed in their ads.

Sam,

That is true, but they are not there so you can go to more advertisement. They are there to sell you their product.

Admit it, how many times do any of us stop and read the advertisements on any of the web sites we visit? I don't, and probably never will.

Yep, a couple of them.

Seems to me that if they were to scan the books and drop them into a PDF file - they could drop the ad right into the file as well. It would give them even more exposure.

But what do I know :D

Kono,

Do you read the ads on your computer or just skip right by them?

I, and I know many others, rarely look at on-line advertisements unless we are searching from something in particular.

Agreed - but I do the same with ads in a book too. How 'bout this - instead of dropping the ads in the middle of a PDF file (or something similar) - make them banner ads. Then you can't skip over them - you can ignore them, but you're still gonna see them.

I'm no marketing genius (or anything that closely resembles one), but I think the advertisers issue is a lame excuse. The fact is that they probably enjoy the money they get from selling the books too much to put them online for free.

It wasn't an excuse, but a contract.
