More stupid jewelry

NFHS rules. At the plate meeting, "Coaches are your players legally, and properly equipped?"

Coach one, "Yes." Coach two, " Yea."

I look at coach two pointing to the two captains standing next to her, "Coach, this player has ear rings, that player has barrettes." then I look to the dugout, "And number six has on more jewelry than a department store."

The two captains start to remove the illegal items and the coach says with a head nod to her dugout, "Oh, she doesn't play."

I looking at the line up see her name and number in the the 'underworld' listed as a sub.

So here is my question ... Does not playing count for warming up? Nonplaying number six threw balls to the out fielder every half inning, she acted as bat girl and ball gofer all game long. Should see be required to remove her jewelry too? Does that count as a warning?

The rule (3-2-12) says "Players in the game are prohibited from wearing jewelry..." If she is not in the game, the rule does not apply.

Right or wrong for NFHS, after the plate meeting, introductions, Star Spangled Banner, special events, etc, players participating in the game may not wear Jewelry.
"Warm-up people", bat shaggers, etc. are not players in the game.

oops, I forgot to finish typing the last sentence.
I went back and fixed it to say what I meant.
Have I lost mmy bully status?

Kind of funny NFHS Vollyball rules (written by the same folks) clearly require that all particapants be free of jewlery before the pregame warm-ups or else the team is charged with the penaty (a time out).

I am big, nearly 300lbs, but I am no bully.:p

NFHS Basketball Rules are the same as Volleyball Rules. Jewelry can not be worn during warm-ups.

Went to the dictionary and looked up Jewelry, ring, ear ring, bracelet all four have either "worn for personal adornment or worn as an ornament" in the definition.

The definition of Barrette "a clip for holding the hair back"

STOP the propagation of this Umpire myth.

It is almost as bad as the coach is not allowed to talk to the pitcher in fair territory between innings without burning a time out

Perhaps you need to read the NFHS definition of jewelry instead.

Myth?
NFHS Rule 3-2
Quote:

ART. 12 . . . Players in the game are prohibited from wearing jewelry such as rings, watches, earrings, bracelets, necklaces (including cloth or string types), barrettes or other hard cosmetic or decorative items....
Hmmm... did you notice the part I posted in bold?

However, as I said in the other forum, I'm seriously tempted to make myself more consistent with umpires in general by ignoring the jewelry rule altogether.
