MAC championships - black shirt

Was watching the MAC Championship and saw the umpires wearing black shirts. They looked sharp! Very sharp. Is this the norm out there?

I don't know what the "MAC Championship" is, but our national federation has a brand new sponsor contract for base- and softball-umpires. As a part of that contract, we will recive black shirts some where this season. (We've started in the Easter weekend)
The moment I've heard that news it was april 1st However talking about it several weeks later the UIC and commisionair still believe we'll get black shirts... Hope that I than also can look sharp

I don't know about you but I wouldn't want to be wearing black in mid to late-July around here when temperatures can reach well over 100 degrees. Black is not my favorite color in the summer and it doesn't matter how well it breathes, it's still an attractant for the sun.

Black you say? I have to admit, I'm a bit surprised! They weren't wearing charcoal gray pants too, were they?

Try doing 9 games in one day for a U-Trip tourney with black pants and a red shirt in 98-degree heat.

Oh, and most of the games were single-umpire, too.

That sucked.

Screw green, it ain't easy being blue!

I won't be coming here that much anymore. I might check in now and again.

I love the people that spout off about how the grey slacks are much cooler than the navy and then insist on a dark color shirt.

Dunno if its the color more than the fabric that makes our uniform choices unbearable sometimes.
polyester is just plain HOT HOT HOT.

they need to make the uniform down here a speedo cut navy thong (banana hammock) and with a teal colored tube top and some flip-flops....
yeah im down with that... in a big way.

Why would you need a tank top? Oh, you mean the whole damn turret from the tank?

It was an eve game - They wouldnt be any warmer than Navy Shirts.

I wouldnt want to be wearing black in the stockton heat myself!!!

Didnt catch if they were charcoal or heather. I would think heather. Either is better than the ugly navy pants.

I DID notice the PU was not wearing plate shoes, which I thought was odd. Maybe he forget them.

That's what polo bue (w/black collar) is for. Or cream, if you must, but I'm not a big fan of that color

MAC=Mid-American Conference

The big problem I do see with too many variations is the expense and never knowing what the heck uniform to bring. I had that problem in little ball, had to bring 5 different shirts.. and somewhat in men's NAFA ball. You never know what your partner remembered to bring. At least in ASA that is not an issue. It would be a big problem at a tournament if too many uniforms were allowed.

But they still looked sharp and professional last night (tennis shoes behind the plate aside ). Ive liked the direction NCAA ball is headed in for the past few years. They are doing well mechanics, training, and appearance.
