How to look bad ?

I'm watching the local HS play its big rival. Schools are from the same city and basically the winner gets in the playoffs, loser doesn't.
Visitors are winning 1-0 bottom of 6th. Both teams have had about 3 baserunners all game. Home team has runner on 3B with 2 outs. Batter hits a line shot towards the F3 , tips her glove and we have nothing. I was watching the PU . I consider him a solid vet. He just didn't make any call, no fair signal, no foul ball,no nothing. DC comes out and the PU goes to the BU, who is in the C slot, they talk and PU then signals foul ball. Now the home team fans and coaches are losing it.
Now OC comes out and they have like a 2 minute discussion then PU sends OC to the BU and it just doesn't get any better with all these conferences.

I'm making the assumption that the BU really doesn't have much to offer in this deal but it ended up looking like he made the call ultimately.

Would any of you consider,in this sitch, going to the BU - in the C slot- for this line drive down 1B ?

My thinking is PU had a brain fart.....

Comments ....

Holy crap!

How can the base umpire, in C, see that better than the plate umpire?

I'm wondering, what the PU's logic was going to the BU who was in the C position for fair/foul information on a ball hit down the first baseline?

Get a shovel, because he didn't just have a brain fart on the field. He shat the ground with it.

I haven't decided if I should call it from the dugout or the outfield. Apparently, both have really great views!

Screw green, it ain't easy being blue!

I won't be coming here that much anymore. I might check in now and again.

Wasnt me..TG
but we did have a similiar type thingey at the state finals.... First game im U3..1 out, 2-2 count on the batter. batter swings and misses on high 3rd strike. catcher catches ball cleanly, BR hustles down to first, touches and rolls out to the dugout.
Time is called by OC, short meeting tween plate umpire. he calls us together and says... Coach thinks batter might have foul tipped the ball... my jaw falls open. I say, I have nothing to add to that play either way... then I ask "why are we out here?" both my partners look at each other then at me and we all smile sheepishly (coz, we are sofa king we todd did)

Sure, but not until I have checked with Mabel in the concession stand, Chip who is dressing another field and Elsie to cow grazing in the field beyond the outfield fence.

Of course, it was a stupid thing to do and yes, maybe the umpire screwed up and used his partner as a prop. That just compounds one stupid act with another. As the BU, I wouldn't even discuss the issue with the PU.

Why, what did Shift do to deserve the blame?

I am sending OC back to the PU and if needed having a conference with PU and telling him/she he is going to make a call. Have to shift it right back to shifty.
