Ball kicked over outfield fence
Ball hit to outfield fence, bounces off coming back into field. Hits player's foot and goes over wall, that would be (FP) Home Run (SP) Four Base Award.
Now... what if it bounces off the ground, and THEN is kicked by the player. Looking at ASA 8.5... Quote:
8.5.J says "carry", which didn't happen. 8.5.K says "intentionally," and let's assume it was accidental. So... is there a case play that addresses this? Would NFHS be different? |
I now know why there are so many exacting rules in sports/games!!! :D
Personally, I would still go with the two base award, whether intentionally or accidentally kicked. |

I guess they do read some of the TWP we get!!! The appropriate ruling is a GRD, two bases from the TOP. If deemed intentional, it is two from LBT at the time the ball was kicked. BTW, you are incorrect on a ball in flight. if the ball hits the wall, then the fielder in the field of play and over the fence in fair territory, it is a GRD. |
The answer would depend on whether you were in Yankee Stadium and which way the call would most benefit the Yankees....

Rule 8 Section 5 I: When a fair batted ball deflects off a fence then off the fielder before going over the home run fence. Effect: The ball is dead. All runners and or batter-runner are awarded two bases from the time of the pitch. |
