I wore the 3n2 mid-tops last season and they held up just fine. I have a wide foot and the shoes were comfortable and offered great support.

Michael, are the ones pictured the mid tops? They look more like low tops. I don't see any that are advertised as mid tops. Dave

Dang, that picture of it looks like a porsche 944 advertisement.... vrooom.. vroooom. fugly looking from the pic IMHO (but that just might be the pic) :D

AtlUmpSteve Sun Feb 15, 2009 09:16pm

This model is not a mid-top. I did see this shoe last fall at the ASA National Council meeting, and it looks like a good shoe (although a bit less sporty, perhaps, than some).

ASA's officialgear.com is selling this shoe for $59 + shipping, so the introductory price quoted by Larry at Legends ($40 + shipping) is excellent. I have purchased from him several times, and he does a good job with servicing his customers. If you notice his site, he doesn't carry a lot of items; just ones he personally believes in. He is one of us; an active umpire (I have had the pleasure to work tournaments with him), also active on this board. I don't think you can go wrong with the combination of this price and dealing with Larry.

Thanks for the heads up on his site, Steve. I've made sure to put it in my "Umpire Gear" bookmarks!

That is either one ugly shoe or they need to fire their marketing photographer.

Maybe they got their designer from Pontiac. You know, the one who designed the Aztek?

shipwreck Mon Feb 16, 2009 05:18pm

How about the designers of the Pacer, Gremlin and Javelins. IMO, some of the ugliest cars ever. Dave

wadeintothem Mon Feb 16, 2009 05:43pm

I think I'd need to see it in person. I would never buy it based on that picture.

I owned a later-model Javelin and received nothing, but compliments and queries as to how a sailor could afford such an expensive car.

Say what you want about AMC, the car looked good and ran great, right up until I plowed it into the back of some guys car parked in front of his house on a curve. Don't know why that SOB didn't have it in his empty driveway.

I proceeded to put my head through the windshield, rip my chin away from my jaw on the steering wheel and bite my tongue nearly in half.

Think about the pain of just accidentally nipping your tongue and now think about an ER surgeon using a fishhook to put in four stitches across the top of the tongue with no, none, nada, zip, zero, not a trace of a pain killer.

I thought about suing AMC because there was no disclaimer warning me to not operate the vehicle while sleeping

Skahtboi Mon Feb 16, 2009 06:15pm

I always thought the Javelin was a good looking car as well!

ROFLMAO....I hit a couple, [2] deer in my little Ranger pickup, and the
results were unbelieveable.

Not saying much with those little runt deer you have there in TX. :D Similar to running over a mid-size dog, I assume.

The difference in TX is how many empty long-neck Bud bottles are in the bed of the P/U. If there are more than six, the driver was probably aiming for the deer.

Bringing up an old thread here...

I bought my 3N2s in August for my Nats in September. At the beginning of this season, they started developing cracks in the front canvas. Anyone else getting cracks in their shoes?

I contacted 3N2 and fussed a little bit (not much, really), and they emailed me back asking for pictures to help them determine what happened. They also said that they'd extend the warranty and send me a replacement pair.

I highly value companies who are willing to stand by their products.

Just thought you guys should know.

I've had mine a year now and they are in perfect shape. I sure like them. Dave

How's that possible? They've only had the Reactions out for a little over a year...

Steve M Sun Apr 25, 2010 07:25am

I've had mine for a little less than a year and they're still in really good shape. They do not shine up as well as some of the other shoes I've used, but they are comfortable and very light.
