They were the Chicago Cardinals thru 1959; speaking personally, that's not so old (50 years ago!!).

I think there are a fair number here at least that old, and Mike, if you aren't there yet, I'm betting you're awfully close.

I actually played HS FB with a kid, Now a man who's dad was a Chicago Cardinal. He had a whole bunch of gear, (t's, sweatshirts) that had that printed on them. It was quite the conversation starter.

According to the same article, the team was at one time named the Racine Cardinals, but that was referring to a street in Chicago, not the town in Wisconsin.

The are, BTW, the oldest currently active football club in the USA.

I'm older than that, but it doesn't mean I was actually paying attention to or was even aware of professional football at the time.
