Situation: Batter drives a pitch to the fence. The CF relays the ball into the pitcher as the B/R rounds second. The 3B realizes that a play will be made at third and starts to the bag. The pitcher makes a wide throw to third toward the runner. The throw pulls the 3B into the path of the runner 4-5 ft from the bag. A collison ensues and the ball goes past the 3B. The defensive coach wants me to call the runner out for not sliding and the offensive coach wants obstruction. I considered it incidental contact and we continued the game. Neither coach asked the PU for help and after the game he said he would have made the same call. I call Dixie softball and I was wondering how you would call this in NF, ASA, NSA, etc.

I'd say you called it right, certainly for ASA and probably even for hyper-safe Fed. What could be cited as a violation?

Sounds like a "by the rules" call to me....Incidential
contact....Everything/one arriving at same time...Good *no* call... glen
