A HTBT to see this, but definately a different type of play.
B1 hits a towering pop in the infield between F1, F2, and F3.
All defensive players start towards ball, BR delaying looking
up at ball, and slowly moving - kinda towards 1B and pitcher's
plate. F1 clearly has called others off ball and is awaiting
for it to descend when <b>WHAM</b> BR plows her back towards
2B. It was really a funny scene with F2 close to foul line,
F3 between pitcher's circle and foul line and F1 just off the
circle. Instead of zagging through the trio, or going outside
in foul ground, BR took the route that ran her right into the
fielder attempting to make the catch. 14U Rec ball...Got four
more games tomorrow....

Well, at least you didn't have to take a chance that F1 would not catch that one. Makes you wonder what - if anything - some of these ball players are thinking.

This happened in a Class A Minor League game Friday night. Visalia Oaks at High Deset Mavericks. 3rd inning, R1, no outs. Batter hits high pop up half way down 3B line. F5 comes in, F2 goes out. For some dumb reason, F1 decides to get in on the act. F5 SHOVES F1 out of the way, then drops ball in fair territory. End result, 4 runs score, Mavericks win by 3.

These were pro ballplayers, not kids. As Steve M said, you never know what goes through their minds.
