I have notice more then one HS JV coach using a unsporting act in my opinion.
While coaching third base and a pop fly ball appearing to drop in between players; the coach starts yelling "TROUBLE..TROUBLE...TROUBLE.
This in my opinion seems to distract the defender who are chasing the ball.
At a resent game I told a coach that if he did not stop yelling "TROUBLE" and I felt it confused the defense, I would call an out for coach interference and unsporting act.
He gave me an argument saying he was yelling at his batter-runner, but then stopped doing it.
Wouldn't you know, the next inning a pop fly ball in foul territory behind third has the third baseman and left fielder in chase. The coach this time does not say anything. The fielders collide and the third baseman is rendered uncounsious.
She is ok.
That coach should have thanked me for stopping his action when I did. If he would have been yelling "TROUBLE", Those fans on that side of the field would have blamed the collition on his distracting yelling and probable lynched him.
Does any one have any comments on this type of coaching?

It is fairly common at younger ages. The coach is trying to tell his base runners to watch out & be prepared to tag up.

Fielders need to zone him out.

I agree with Dakota on this one. I see this fairly often and I can't say I have ever noticed that it distracted a fielder.

In my opinion....this may be a case of "looking for boogers" :)
