I haven't decided if I should call it from the dugout or the outfield. Apparently, both have really great views!

Screw green, it ain't easy being blue!

I won't be coming here that much anymore. I might check in now and again.

Just got back and had a great time. I didn't call a championship game, but I was slated to do one of the If games.

If you get a chance to do a seniors tournament, do it. It's a blast, guys!

Especially since you don't need to call the pitches.

Hey, that's what they wanted. Though I personally only had one called strike 3 in the entire tournament. Those guys wanted to hit, and I don't care if they are "seniors," as a lot of them can still knock that ball outta there!

Yeah, and they also "want" a minimum/maximum fence distance of 275', a pitcher's box from the PP to 2B and the ability to use ANY softball bat on the market.

First time I worked a senior game, they argued over whether the ball hit the mat or not. If I'm going to have to listen to criticism of a ball/strike call, it should at least be because of a call I make.

My experience with Senior Softball is a lot of arguing about EVERYTHING.

But the great thing about the seniors is that if there's a closs play and they come out to argue, you can convince them that that play happened in last weeks game!

Actually, it was nothing like that at all. The players in this tournament were largely very respectful and were not argumentative. I only had one player give me "the look" on a strike that hit the back 1/4" of the mat during a 50 AAA game.

We had some issues with players trying to bring in banned bats, but the players complied without issue. We instructed them to take them to their cars, which they did.

None of what you described really happened in this National. It all went very well, and it really was enjoyable. The UICs treated us all very fairly, and I think we all had a good time calling games.
