At least you get to see it. There is a nasty storm in this area that continually interupts the feed about every 10 seconds and I'm tired of dealing with it. I'll wait for Diane (PU) to give me a call later or catch the VOD sometime tonight.

That sucks! Coming in good for me.

I'm not sure what is going on but its been about 5 mins since last play... maybe a protest, hard to tell.

So far, she is doing a hell of a job. Bottom of 7th tied.

wadeintothem Sun Aug 10, 2008 12:34pm

canes got it...

whiskers_ump Sun Aug 10, 2008 12:36pm

Runner on 3rd, OBS called and it clearly was. Looked like pulled foot on the
throw to first, but coverage was so fast with the camera that I could not
tell.

1 out go ahead run on 3rd.

Game over, H Canes win 6-5.

Good rotation and looked like all got their calls correct.

Like Wade said, so bad camera angles, but good job overall.

Very cool to be able to watch several 18G games and watch the ASA 3 man rotations and watch the umpires work.

Good year!

Now if fall ball would hurry up and start!

Starting week after next here locally.

Couple exposure tournaments as well as NAFA Qualifiers.

I knew the call at home was going to be safe before it happened. If it were out, Diane would probably have to buy the beer!;)

My search for umpires names came up blank. Do you know the other two
umires names?

Thanks

Who else was on the field with Diane? Wasn't she at the Gold last year also?

Yes. Diane was requested by the tournament UICs.

I'm not sure who the other umpires were. If I find out prior to someone posting, I'll let you know.

Thanks

Phonetic spelling:

1st base - John Stoodley
3rd base - Sue Sawyer

My apologies to these umpires if I butchered their names. The entrie crew worked a very good game.

It seems there was an issue concerning one pitcher digging hole in front of the PP and the other team complaining about it.

Apparently, a fair amount of showmanship, not to be confused with sportsmanship :D , demonstrated by both teams trying to get any type of advantage.

Might be Sue Sawyer.....but with an east coast drawl...it might have sounded like Shorer...:)

Thanks for the info.

Congrats to Diane, Sue and John!

Mike/SOCALUMPS,

Please pass on my congratulations to Diane (Lil Bit) and Sue. Had the pleasure of working with Sue at a Gold National a few years back.

outathm Mon Aug 11, 2008 09:12am

congrats to Diane and john who I have worked with int the past and Sue. It is nice to know the people who have the shot at the gold ring.

AtlUmpSteve Mon Aug 11, 2008 09:37am

To those of you who know John Stoodley, this was a special situation for him.

John has a tumor in his neck, located between the carotid artery and jugular; as of the last report I have, he will undergo surgery sometime this month.

I have had the pleasure to work with John several times over the years, both as a fellow umpire, and as an ASA National umpire coordinator. He and his wife, Suzanne, always make an ASA National umpire crew part of their family.

I know you will all wish John well.

wadeintothem Mon Aug 11, 2008 09:40am

congrats to them all! And I wish John the best.
