Pro-Nine

Just got my new Pro-Nine chest protector yesterday. I will be using it this weekend for a Men's FP tournament. I also bought the 4" extension since I am 6' 7" tall.

My review to be posted on Monday.....

I don't have the extension. Once you try it on, you may decide you don't need it either.

Ya' gonna ask a catcher to let one go by to see how it stands up to a direct hit?

Or are you not wearing your Nutty Buddy?

I'd give both legs to be that tall.

I know some folks who'd give more than that.

Hey . . . it's a men's tourney . . . if they don't like the strike zone, he won't have to ask!!

Andy,
For men's ball, I would not wear anything lighter than the Pro-Nine. The times you will get hit most often in those games, is from a foul - and I want the hard shell on the shoulders and the hard foam for the chest. I have a Schutt that I wear for high school and youth ball and a Pro-Nine that I wear for the older groups - college & adult.
I'm not 6-7, only 6-1, so I don't need the extension. If I can buy a 4-inch extension, I'll put it somewhere else.

Yeah, but who are you going to find that will mark that as "Large"?

The same one who has thought that "X" was 6 inches for the past 30 years.

Well, I'm 6' 4", and this week (at the USA/ASA 12U National), I'd like to be about a foot shorter! My legs and knees are hurtin'

Wouldn't that be more appropriate in the substitution thread?

Screw green, it ain't easy being blue!

I won't be coming here that much anymore. I might check in now and again.

Eight Mens FP games over the weekend, four plates.

Wore the new Pro-Nine...didn't ever get hit, so I can't comment on that aspect. I have been wearing the Honig's K2 for the last several years, so the Pro-Nine felt a little bulky at first, but I quickly got used to it. It wasn't nearly as hot as I expected, so that was nice. I had recently developed a bad habit of jumping around behind the catcher if I thought that they might miss the pitch or let it get by, but I found myself more comfortable and confident with the larger Pro-Nine on.

I am going to have to reorganize my equipment bag, though. The Pro-Nine takes up much more room than the K2!

This is true. Not that I am wanting to wish bad upon you, but you really need to get hit to truly appreciate this chest protector.
