E Division game -ASA Adult Slow pitch
Last night in an E Division game, BR hits a line drive about
15 feet over the head of F6. F6 leaps for it and his glove flies off his hand (about five feet) hitting the ball. The ball continued into field. Is there any penalty?

Maybe. Depends on if the umpire judges it to be an intentional act. Delayed dead ball. All runners must advance at least 3 bases on a batted ball that strikes equipment detached from its proper place. (ASA 8-5-F-1).
I'd have a hard time believing the fielder did not do it intentionally.

Dave I haven't decided if I should call it from the dugout or the outfield. Apparently, both have really great views! Screw green, it ain't easy being blue! I won't be coming here that much anymore. I might check in now and again. |
