Speaking FED.....That's what I was taught in our association... That, when there are multiple runners, the BU will back-up the PU by covering home in the event that the PU was covering 3rd...
I was also taught that the BU covers a single base-runner all the way to and including third. I would have expected, as a BU, to make both of those calls....

I guess my question would be, should the vet have bailed the rookie out in this case? I, personally, would have let her make the call.
