WCWS- Talking Heads At It Again

TAMU v. VT game, about the 2nd inning:

"Angela Tincher and Megan Gibson are two of the best players in college baseball today..."

IRISHMAFIA Thu May 29, 2008 06:40pm

Bad enough having uneducated softball announcers, so they bring in a baseball slug like John Kruk?

When is ESPN going to figure out what a laughing stock their production is?

IRISHMAFIA Thu May 29, 2008 06:53pm

"It's amazing what slappers can do when they get a little bit of height on their balls."

Okay:rolleyes:

Just turn down the sound, man, just turn down the sound.

It's all you can do.

We pretty much just muted the audio but just had to hear some of these gems so we would turn it back on. Glutton for punishment I guess.

At begiining of TAMU / VT game: "Angela Tincher is the best player in all of softball. This might be a big game since she's facing the Megan Gibson who she beat out for POY honors."

In the 7th inning, same game: "This is a classic pitching duel and the biggest game in the this WCWS."

Later on, at beginning of the UCLA / Arizona game: "This is the biggest game in this WCWS and the biggest opening game ever in the history of the WCWS."

Sure a lot of "biggest."

You guys are too touchy.

For a second I thought I was on the little ball board and Tim McCarver was screwing something up again.

While content is certainly an issue, I think these posts are more pointed toward how unqualified these folks are to be in the booth. Of course, ever since ESPN gained national recognition, they have lived with the belief that a former participant is the most qualified to be on the air. And it just isn't ESPN. Just about every sports outlet seems to follow suit which is why many of the studio shows are a joke.

I'm surprised Chris Berman is still there, but he's bigger than just about everyone else. As good as Tom Mees was, if he didn't die, he probably would have been pushed aside with the jock mentality.

Kruk is a disaster. You can hear him fumbling for something, anything, to say about a sport he knows absolutely nothing about. Painful.

I wish, if he has to be there, he'd tell old MLB drinking and clubhouse stories or something - at least it would be entertaining.
