Bad teams can make for interesting situations

Rec level summer league with high school aged girls playing under FED rules. Catchers from both teams did this: runner at second, outs don't matter, ball four to batter. Both catchers of taking three steps in front of the plate and toward third base before trying to throw out a runner stealing third. On two occasions, one by each team's catcher, the batter-runner and catcher came in contact with each other on a base on ball in front of the plate while a runner was stealing third. I called nothing in both cases.

Neither coach questioned the no-call, but supposed one of them did. How would you defend the no-call? I'll see these teams again later in the season.

If the batter-runner interfered with the catcher throwing the ball I would have interference. Wouldn't have to defend the no call.

"Coach if your catcher standing up and running into the BR got you an out, this would become a different type of game."

But the catcher is not in the act of throwing the ball, but stepping toward a base to which they may or may not be throwing the ball.

It is a live ball and the BR has every right to advance to 1B, and beyond, if s/he so chooses. They should not be held captive of a catcher who apparently cannot complete a throw to 3B from the plate.
