2 person mechanics fly ball to Right BR to 3rd

ok had a game the other night that made me think, not easy to do . Anyway 2 person mechanics nobody on, shot to deep right field (don't go out on) anyway ball is down I am taking BR to 3rd. Trying to watch runner and ball, for some reason I just felt like I might be in the way of a throw from outfield if they were trying to get BR going into 3rd. SO I ask you all what do you do to keep out of the way? I went deep (more toward home than normal) so I could watch BR and look over shoulder....but just felt like I had my back to the ball and that made me nervous especially with the skill level of the defensive team!
