Chin strap question

I was PU for a few rec league games recently. Chin straps are a requirement. I noticed that some of the chin straps looked like they were designed to be placed at the bottom of the chin rather than under and behind the chin. I had never seen this type of chin strap before and I got a little nervous about them. I wasn’t sure they would stay in place. These were 10U girls and on some the chin straps are already a bit loose. I asked the players who had them to put them under and behind the chin. Neither the players nor any coaches complained. Even though I may have been a bit anal about this I thought it better to err on the side of safety or at least what I thought was safe. Comments on this type of chin strap? (I already know that I can be anal at times.)

I think maybe you've already said all that needs saying about this! ;)

The rules don't say anything about type, kind, design, or effectiveness of the strap; only that there has to be one and that it be worn properly. (ASA 3-5-E) Anything else is between the player and her coach and parents.

it's been my experience that the ones that gripe about being anal, will be the same ones that get litigation happy when little katie gets popped on the coconut because the helmet came off.

I vote for "worry about other stuff".

Yup. More important issues to worry about.

Yup, I'll drink to that - several times.
