HelMask

Ok. If Kerwin can wear a helmet and keep his hat on underneath, AND take the helmet off for a play at the plate, then any one of you can too.

I tried one of those new fangled helmet thingies during a rec. game.... no wonder people b!tch about the strike zone (was like sticking my head up someone's @ss) and trying to call a game, no peripheral vision and it smelled.... im sticking with my single bar .. great view and no hat problems.

My cousin had one, bragged how good it was. Let me try it. I got so frustrated with it I actually sent my wife to the car to get my regular mask and hat and switch back at the end of the 3rd inning.

Interesting... the take on the HSH from those that use them is they offer IMPROVED vision. I never quite understood why vision would be improved, but that is what they say... maybe the front bars of the HSH are closer to your head?

The internal padding of the HSH's that I've looked at (never tried one on, though) leave little room for the hat, so maybe he has custom padding in his.

MLB probably has someone hired to run up behind the umpire and place their logo'd hat on their head for every helmet removal.... and no wonder he missed the HBP call.... kerwin was flinching like a rookie umpire. Cant say as i blame him...but still, I could blow calls like that for 1/2 the money!! but im guessing they pay them for all the calls they didnt blow.

1. At least he took it off, unlike some umpires I won't name.
2. He has it in his left hand.
3. He got this call right.
4. He owes SMSUA $1 for his strike/ball double call.
5. He effed up the strike/ball and the HBP he missed. He got this one right. If I get only 33% of my major calls right, I am two and BBQ for Sunday in our weekend "invitationals."
