This almost reminds me of a field I worked on once, where there was "no" fence, except for a split rail wooden fence on one part of the outfield, making it shorter than the other part of the outfield, which had no boundary.

What are they serving under the canopy?

They might have served the BU Crow if he blew the call. BU's so far out of position he's looking up the poop-shoot.

Maybe he'd have gotten into position faster.

Only thing I can think of is an overthrow at first, and it hit the neighbor's gnome statue that marks DBT.

Not only that, they are NOT "down at (communist kickball)." That would indicate there is free food involved.
