Reporting Subs

I had a couple different reporting sub dealies come up in a pretty high end 18's tourney....

1. Pitching change-unreported-I noticed different F1. I go to coach about it and they didn't think they needed to report it cause it was only a position swap. I brought up courtesy runner implications. They acted like I was an OOO. I believe I am correct on this.

2. When DP plays defense do they need to report to PU ? I was BU. New, unreported DP gets hurt. Offensive team wants unreported sub, ejections and the whole shbang. After 10 minutes PU finally squared it away but it was a mess for aboutt 8 of the 10 minutes......what say you

3. When say F8 & F9 switch positions are they required by rule to report that change ? I, have historically not payed much attention to the "non-important" position changes....IS my thinking incorrect on this ? :(

No, it does not "officially" need to be reported.

Not unless the DP is playing defense for the FLEX.

Will they still think OOO when the CR is denied because the lineup still shows the original pitcher?

I have been telling coaches that there are 9 things they can change and I need to know 8 of them, so tell me all and I'll decide what to record.

So lets say something like Cecil's scenairo happens......No pitching change reported, I don't notice it, team goes on offense, and they want a CR for pitcher. Now our line-ups don't match... It seems to me they should have to report it in order to utilize the CR.....just sayin........

Do you understand "officially"? That means there is nothing in the book which requires it.

Would it be prudent for a team to report the change? Yes. Will you DQ a player for failing to report a change in defensive position? I hope not.

How are you NOT going to know of a pitching change after providing the player with a warm-up period if change is during a half inning? For the beginning of an half inning, I can see where it might be an issue, but I'm also expecting myself to notice a different face on the PP.

I usually ask the coaches at the pre-game to let me know about position switches involving the pitcher or catcher. I tell them it will help me if they want to use a courtesy runner. As Mike mentioned, I also try to notice a new pitcher and/or catcher and record it on my own.
