ASA Ump gear.

Are most of you purchasing your equipment/clothing through officialgear.com? Is there anywhere else that has these items any cheaper? What about Brick and mortor stores?

I get all of my ASA clothing from officialgear, as it's simply easier for me to click-click-pay-confirm and have it delivered. Anything that's not ASA-specific (such as my indicator, brush, shoes, belt, etc.) is bought at the local Dick's Sporting Goods or other such stores.

I haven't decided if I should call it from the dugout or the outfield. Apparently, both have really great views!

Screw green, it ain't easy being blue!

I won't be coming here that much anymore. I might check in now and again.

I've bought some things from them. I also use Honigs, Lesters, Ump Attire, a couple of local shops, etc. ASA's Official Gear is generally price competitive, but their selection is limited.

The LINKS page on this web site has several on-line sources of equipment.

I usually only buy ASA-specific items through the ASA store. I've found that a number of other sites have equal or better items for better prices and usually faster service. Tom mentioned Lester's and Honig's - both of these provide excellent products and service and their prices are pretty good too. I'd recommend both of them to anyone. I'll add Mike Shields' store -
http://pennsylvania.purchaseofficials.com/home.php

to that list. Mike is very fast with his deliveries, good on pricing, and very good on quality. If you do high school sports in Pennsylvania, you already know that.

I have to say that the ASA Feicheimer pants are top-notch..and so is their gear bag - I have used the gear bag as luggage a lot on trips -it makes a great weekender - and it NEVER gets checked by TSA ( I use the TSA approved locks that show they have been opened...).

I buy my indicators ( I go thru about 1 1/2 indicators a year!) at Modell's ( a local NY area sporting goods chain). They stock the Franklin MLB metal 3/4/3 clicker -none of this 3 ball, 2 strike, 2 out baloney...

I bought the Gerry Davis leg guards this year, and have to say they are as comfortable a set of leg guards I have ever had...and protect well too! Gerry also has a nice heavy duty belt that even holds MY fat gut up....
The service at Gerry Davis was good, also...

I am probably going to be replacing my mask next year - haven't figured where I'll be getting that yet - all I want to do is replace my Wilson A3080 with a new one...lol...

I ve bought some ASA stuff and my current plate shoes from officialgear. I wouldnt recommend their plate shoes. (spotbuilt hitops are what I bought).

Never had a prob with officialgears service.

I go to many resources (including a "local" (70 mi) store which stocks umpire gear) for my gear but not ASA.

Honigs did well on some stuff I've ordered from them.

Chest protector and mask from Honig's
Shin guards from local sporting goods store
Gerry Davis shoes
Ball bag from Ump Attire
Caps, indicators, brushes, a couple other accessories, shirts and pants bought through SMSUA because we basically get a no-interest loan to buy ASA stuff

Oh, and strike zone from hell.
