Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year to all!

Up north, we did get a white Christmas.. it was in serious doubt for awhile, but we got 2-3 inches of snow about Dec 21. In addition, we had light snow on Christmas Day. Very beautiful.

Now, if I could just combine that with you Southern guys season starting in January...

It's a long haul now until the first rules clinics in March...

Heck Dakota, by March we will be well into the high school season down here. There will also have been quite a few major tournaments already done by then.

Merry (belated) Christmas to all, and to all a happy and prosperous new year.

Let's see...

Did I hear they pay travel costs for HS games???

Skahtboi Fri Dec 28, 2001 01:47pm

.28 a mile. Might almost be worth it, huh?!

According to the new UIL manual, the prices has risen

34.5 a mile

I stand corrected then. That works for me. We deserve a little more for the wear and tear!

Dakota Sat Dec 29, 2001 01:05pm

Let's see... 34.5ยข per mile, about 1800 miles round trip to north Texas, that's over $600. Hmmmm...

With around 25-30 hours travel time per game, more than a couple games per week could begin to wear me down though.

Would I have to attend chapter meetings, too? That might be too much. :D

How about we just schedule you for tournaments? That way, you can name the number of games that you want to work, and just make about two or so trips a month! ;)

Scott,

Do you get paid for travel when doing tournaments? I have
only gotten it once for tournament and they also put us
up in motels. The Brenham Classic. I have an invite to
do it again this year. I am still looking for that info
on the 34.5. I copied it and can not find it. Don't want
to be giving bad info and having Dakota traveling for
nothing. :D,

YA'll HAVE A VERY SAFE AND HAPPY NEW YEAR AND MAY ALL YOUR
CALLS BE THE RIGHT ONE.

Most of them, yes. But not all of them. There are some that will pay the .28 cents per mile, and others will pay a flat rate, usually $17.00 if you do at least three games. Then, of course, there are those that don't pay you diddley for your travel. These fall last on my list if there are "paying" tournaments to be worked that weekend, unless of course there is some really superb ball playing expected.
