ASA Tourney in Denton

Is anyone here working at the District tournament this weekend? I'd love to put faces to names if you are.

For a second, I thought I was on eteamz after seeing a post which seems to assume everyone reading it is local to the poster. :D

eteamz has the "everybody, including ASA, is from SoCal" people; we have the Texans.

You mean the rest of us aren't just in a suburb of Texas? :D

Is that Denton, Nebraska? I doubt it since that is a town close to me with a population of about 250 and very little softball. Dave

No, silly, it's Denton, Maryland. :p

Everybody's a friggin' clown. I know what he is talking about. And no, I am not going to be in Denton this weekend unless I get a call. I might drop by, though.

Great . . . bring on the storm. Then I can cross the river and get free medical care, unlimited federal assistance, and a free education for my kids.

When are you heading to Austin?

Must be why Mexico has such a large immigration problem.

He meant coming across the border the other way. In other words, if Mike's prediction about the Rio Grande came true.

No, that's not going to happen. In Mexico, illegal immigrants are jailed. Only in the US are they treated better than the citizens of the country.

I leave this afternoon. Pre-finals "working dinner" tonight . . . the real action starts on Thursday. Fortunately, they have taken rain out of the local forecast. Anyone from your chapter going to be there?

Not that I am aware of. Bill B. and myself were in the list that was submitted by Lee P., who also submitted your name, but I know that I wasn't chosen, I don't know about Bill.

At the risk of alienating the rest of the country:

Where did they have the dinner? Back a long time ago...and I am talking so long ago that there was "country" between Leander and Austin...we had a fabulous working dinner out at County Line (which was also out in the country). Bill Farney was doing his swan song as AD of the UIL and we went out with a bang with the dinner for both baseball and softball.

If you tell me it was either at Stubb's or at Jaime's at 6th and Red River I will be upset...

Nope . . . not Stubb's or Jaime's . . . they wouldn't turn a bunch of umpires loose on 6th Street PRIOR to the semis & finals! Our dinner was at the UT Club - nice, close, and private.

So tell us, hot shot, how was the tourney? What games did you work...etc.? I see that you returned in one piece. :D

Scott,

I had a great time . . . made a lot of new friends . . . and we even called a few games. I was the rabbit on the 5A championship between Garland and Katy last night . . . 1-0 game, pretty exciting. Earlier, I had the plate on the 3A Semi. In the 2A Semi (Aubrey came back with 2 outs in the 7th and scored 4 to win) I was at 1st. It was a tremedous experience.
