NCAA, Just things I have noticed
PUs are handing/tossing ball to catcher, not pitcher.
Wearing jackets in Palo Alto. Is it that cold in CA right now? Cal pitcher, Franken- whatever is so illegal it's a shame. Just watched LSU catcher try to pull about a dozen into the zone, all called balls. Gets one that seemed outside (wasn't really close), catcher held glove and got the call. When will catchers and their coaches figure this out? Seems to be some serious offense in these games. I'm still dying every time I see a throw to 1B and F3 is in a stretch before the ball is even released by the infielder. You would think at this level a player would actually know, or at least be coached on, the proper mechanics for receiving a throw. |

I watched the LSU game too.. pathetic initial try at "framing" the pitches (but dang those girls can hit !! <lol>... and I dont have any NCAA rules handy... but are the pitchers allowed to throw from outside the imaginery lines from that form the "pitching lane"

You can download your own copy of the NCAA rules from their site - ncaa.org Do you want the pitch called or do you want PU watching the location of the pitcher's feet? |

I think we all understand that, but it wasn't as though she was marginal. Stevie Wonder could have seen it from the press box. She was also jumping off the pitcher's plate and planting about 9-12 inches in front. I know how it works, but this is the type of stuff which confuses many people in the game. This pitcher didn't just start doing this in these regionals. |
