NHFS re-entry

In tonight's NFHS game, blue allowed a sub to re-enter, the same as if she had been a starter. Player 25 started. Player 7 subbed for her. Player 25 re-entered, replacing Player 7. Player 7 re-entered, replacing Player 25 again. Was blue correct? Is ASA the same? Thank you for replies.

Allowable in NFHS and ASA. Not in NCAA. Dave

Speaking NFHS, all starter's and substitutes are entitled for "1" re-entry but must re-enter in same position in the batting order.

I agree - R3.S3.A5, page 34 of the NFHS rulebook.

This is the second time I have heard this question this season. The other time was from a coach, a seasoned coach at that, during a game. What's going on??? This is not a new rule.

No, Scott, it's not new. But I've had a couple of college coaches this year - both of traditionally ranked programs and both have been in their position for several years - and they each forgot to report a re-entry. So, nothing new, but they forget too.
