You can't be a whimp and play girl's softball

Song sung in the style of Willy Nelson.

You can’t be a wimp and play girl’s softball

Cause it’s a game with cuts and scars and pain

Tennessee in the Summer, Can really be a bummer

But it does you no good to complain.

Well, you can’t be a wimp and play girl’s softball

It’s best you just join in and play the game

Let me do some explainin’, don’t be whining or complainin’...

Cause you can’t be a wimp and play girl’s softball

Well I saw a girl the other day, she took a grounder to the nose

As she lay there bleeding... I noticed she was bruised from head to toe!

Later that inning she went to bat and took a fastball to the head

But before she went unconscious, well this is what she said, she said...

You can’t be a wimp and play girl’s softball

It’s best you just join in and play the game.

If you’re afraid of swellin’ then you won’t like what their sellin’

You’ll get sunburn, bumps, and bruises, and scars

And you never be the same...

I said, you can’t be a wimp and play girl’s softball

Once again I’ll tell you that it’s true.

If you’re afraid of bleedin’, it won’t be long and you’ll be leavin’

Cause you can’t be a wimp and play girl’s softball

Every time I turn around we score another run

The other team don’t like it, but we think it’s lots of fun

They pull their pitcher she starts to cry and her eyes begin to swell

We all huddle up and then we turn to her and yell, ….WE YELL!

You can’t be a wimp and play girl’s softball

Cause it’s a game with cuts and scars and pain

Tennessee in the Summer, Can really be a bummer

But it does you no good to complain...

I said, you can’t be a wimp and play girl’s softball

It’s best you just join in and play the game

Start crying while you’re playing, and on the bench you’ll be stayin’

Cause you can’t be a wimp and play girl’s softball

You can’t be a wimp and play girl’s softball

It’s best you just join in and play the game

If you can’t take the pressure you may want to stick to checkers...

And if you wanna run to your momma, you better stick with choir or drama

And if running makes you a hurler, you better stay home and be a twirler

Cause you can’t be a wimp and play girl’s softball!!!

It's a great song for sure. About half of the song can be listened to on the umpires machanics Cd. Also all the words are on the Cd. I made copies of it to share with some Softball lovers.

It's funny, but so true and I could see how it could charge up a team.

I hope this is not spam, but I copied and pasted the link with the story of the song and how to get it, if it's still available.

That is a link to a drive on your computer, not to the internets.

Not having heard it, I am wondering if the usage of the word "great" here isn't over stating it a bit. To me, a "great" song would be something along the lines of Miles Davis' "So What."

Hey Wadeintothem,

Below is part of what the link was suppose to go to. I didn't copy/paste the part where the order form was because I don't think the "make a copy of the order form" would work. ...Al

“You Can’t Be a Wimp and Play Girl’s Softball”

Softball’s Theme Song - now on sale by epic sports software

Any girl who’s ever played in a softball league knows that it’s a serious sport. Girl’s softball is not a game for the “faint at heart”. Now there is a song dedicated to all those girls who play or have played softball and have the bumps, bruises and scars to prove it. Written and produced by motivational speaker Doug Hanson, the song was created to cheer up his teenage daughter’s team that made it to the National Final in July. “I wrote it to take the edge off the tension the girls were feeling before the big game” said Hanson, and sure enough it worked like a charm. Not only did his daughter’s team win, but every parent on the team wanted a copy of the song that seemed to capture the essence of the sport.

The music for the song was professionally produced by White Cat Records and performed by a group of Nashville musicians that play backup for some of Country music’s most popular groups. You’ll be tapping your feet to the beat that is sweeping softball stadiums around the country. A limited run of these CD are available from epic sports software. The CD makes a great gift for players, coaches and fans. Use the handy form below to order your own personal copy today.

Scott:
Loving softball the way I do, having played, my daughters played and now umpiring, it makes me smile everytime I hear it - no matter how many times I hear it. That makes it great to me. This criteria doesn't apply to everyone - but to me.

By the way, how is D-II going? Having a good time?

Larry

Yes I am. I am still studying the UIP Manual daily, as I seem to be learning something new daily. But, that's what its all about, isn't it?!?!

And, having been involved with softball as coach, player, watching/coaching/travelling while my daughter played, then umpiring...etc., I understand how you enjoy the song. But great?????

As I said, it makes me smile everytime I hear it. It is only my criteria, but yes, that qualifies it as great for me.

By the way, aren't you supposed to be teaching instead of checking on this silly forum?
