Steve,

Somewhere I read a message you posted and in it you stated
that you already had you NFHS 2002 Rule book. How many
changes, and were the changes the ones that GCB posted for
us - seems like several months ago?

Mike,

Will take this opportunity to thank you for the information
you gave me that I requested. I have heard of that group,
just did not catch the U-trip as meaing triple.

Thanks to both,

glen

Glen,
The 2002 rule changes that are posted on the NFHS site are the ones listed in the book. Funny thing, the proof readers missed one (at least) - the book shows these as rule changes for 2001. The web site has them as 2002. This year, there are 3 books -rule book, case book, and umpire's manual.

ASA, Fed, and NCAA are now working on using the same set of mechanics. That's kinda strange, I've been using the same all along. I understand that the 2002 ASA rule book will not have the umpire mechanics section. That will be put into a second book. Guess that will be anther book that our local commissioner doesn't hand out - getting rule books from him was like pulling teeth. You'd think that the cost for each book was coming from his pocket.

I know what you mean. In the year 2000 our NFHS Chapter
did not even hand out the rule books. Like this year, we
have yet to register. The last Umpires Manual I got was
for 1996 and 1997 combined. I am thinking of just calling
Local UIL office [Austin] and seeing if they will send me
and test and let me register. They did one year. That was
I believe in 1998.

thanks again,

glen
