Good! Shouldn't be playing softball in the northern hemisphere in February anyway :D

first game of the season and it's raining? D**n, we are expecting a foot of snow this week. Glad I'm not in upstate NY. They won't see any green until the 4th of July.

Got two in last thursday. Field guy wore a jacket in last game. Have two more today. It's 62 degrees and clear skies!

Only problem is, this is baseball! It'll take 5 to 6 hours to work!

Real ball starts very soon!

I got five games in for a Jr College tourney the first weekend of February. JC DHs scheduled for tomorrow (if no rain) and Saturday. First HS game is on tap for the 21st......Let the fun begin!

What Mike said................

I have been working out with last years D2 national champs. Last year's 6 starting freshmen are sophomores now.

Had a couple of chapter meetings - but no thoughts yet of being on a field.

Well then, you and Mike will be happy to know that four games into my regular season I have yet to get on the field myself. I got plenty of scrimmages in over the past two weeks, but no "real" ball yet! Now I have to wait until Thursday, at least.

yo Scott,
Part of it's being envious of the weather you've got at this time of year - but I sure wouldn't want some of your weather the rest of the year..........

Nothing to be envious about right now. It has been rainy, which we really need, but now it has turned cold. High today will be right around freezing, with a chance of snow accumulations of three inches. I know that isn't much to you northern folk, but three inches of snow in Texas can bring things to a grinding halt.

On the up side, it supposed to be in the 50's by Friday and the 60's on Saturday. My first NCAA game of the season is scheduled for this Saturday.

Yeah, between now and June the weather, on the whole, is great for softball. After June and up to September, it is miserable. Those are the times that I wonder why anyone in their right mind would play in, let alone schedule, a tournament.

Well, it's a bit colder and pretty saturated up this way.

But that wasn't my point. I'm of the opinion that every sport should have a season. Any season for softball should not include the months of November, December, January or February. There is plenty of time to play softball during the remaining 2/3 of the year.

Ahhh ... a good time to be in Florida. Even all the way out here in Pensacola our weather has been decent. I've been on the field for two doubleheaders and six single games. On four of those eight dates I didn't even wear a jacket! (We won't talk about those 2-3 hurricane days we tend to get most summers.)

Oh...I understand your intent, as we have all heard it plainly stated many, many times! :D

Actually, buying into your philosphy of a sport season, the time to not have games in Texas would be July, August and September. Then it is just too darned hot!

3afan Wed Feb 14, 2007 07:18pm

I did 11 scrimmages (no pay, training), 1 for real yesterday, tournament starting tomorrow 9:30AM ... its on ......

SRW Thu Feb 15, 2007 11:09am

First game for me will be 2/17 - 16-U scrimmage, 2-ump. Yours truely has the dish. 2 days to stretch and check gear and press uniforms and and and... :)
