Power
 

This has nothing to do with softball, but...

Some areas up here in the Seattle area are still without power from last Thursday's storm. I'm one of them. Just finished my 5th night with a 45 degree house. I lost power Thursday night 6pm, and haven't seen a power truck at all. Lots of trees in power lines, downed poles, power poles that have literally broken in half and the top is hanging from the wires... it's bad.

Luckily I have a fireplace that keeps the living room warm during the fire, but the bedroom is still chilly. Found a generator up in Everett (about 60 miles away), so I was able to get that running and save the food in the freezers. Couldn't save the refrigerator stuff in time, however. The water district had a water leak in the main in the street above my property - and water runs downhill... had to clean out my yarddrain at the base of the driveway twice a day because the leak was carrying silt and sediment down my driveway. They finally fixed that yesterday. Spirits are slowly fading...

Hang in there SRW, it can only get better. Last year, up here in Maine, (used to live in Vancouver) we had an ice storm that left me without power for two weeks straight. No fireplace, luckily it was cold enough outside I just moved the freezer and fridge stuff out there, didn't lose a thinge.

We had the same deal here in Buffalo, NY...the "Columbus Day Surprise"...over 100 miles of Thruway and all city streets impassable, no power for 8 days, loss of upwards of 30% of old-growth trees (300 million tons of tree debris had to be 'chipped' and disposed of). This was no picnic and my heart goes out to you folks out west.

Hang in there, SRW - and the others up there. It'll get better, meanwhile, think about what Glen & some folks down there went through a year or so ago...........

every winter I lose power 3-4 days through snow storms. My house is ready for it with generator ,etc.. but I've definately been there.

Power was finally restored about 9pm tonight. That makes 123 hours, or 5-days & 3-hours.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. It was nice to read them when I was sitting at work today like a zombie, not wanting to do anything but sleep and worry about things.

This too, shall pass.

Looks like you weren't one of those that ran the generator in the house and got CO poisoning. I've got a friend in Federal Way that had part of a madrona tree snap off and hit the roof right above her bed. A branch actually came through the ceiling about 3 feet from her head. Scary stuff up here a couple of weeks ago.
