Softball

I just thought I would start a thread with this name to see what people would contribute. I noticed that there were 3, count 'em 3, threads by this name under "similar threads" beneath the "best softball" thread.
Have Fun

OK. Let's talk about the metaphoric uses of the word softball, as in "The reporters always toss softballs to him at press conferences."

OK, now that we're out there.

Softball, Ain't Nuthin Soft About It

Softballs are harder than baseballs. Even the 375 compression balls. Baseballs are like 350. The older 525's and 750's were harder than golf balls.

Actually, the only time that softballs are softer than baseballs is when you have the cork center. Remember the balls, that would "oval out" in the 2nd inning making a routine pop up an adventure?

Since they started making the poly cores, the fact is baseballs are softer than softballs.

Than you are going to love to hear that there is a movement to bring a cork core ball back to softball. It will not change with humidity, but it will not jump off a supped up bat. HR hitters will hit HRs, others will have to learn to hit them where they ain't and the game, once again, starts to look more like the softball we once knew. Of course, like I said, this is only a movement, nothing has been done to effect such a change.

Softball and church
The more things change, the more people want them to stay the same.
