Here in Texas, if we didn't accept assignments in the heat, we wouldn't be able to umpire between the months of May-September. There are many ways of coping with the heat. We usually work one on and one off, have an air conditioned room we can seek refuge in(if not, you will hear many a car, truck or van running in the parking lot), plenty of water, cool ties and towels on ice soaked in water with spirits of ammonia. You'd be surprised at just how well you can do. Of course, getting toward the end of the day, you are pretty drained energy wise, as the heat has a way of taking it out of you regardless of what precautions you may take.

Now....if you want to talk really amazing abilities to cope with heat, talk to Glen or Joel. They are down there near the Texas coast, where the temperatures get nearly as high as they do here, but they are dealing with humidity in the 60-90 percent range on a daily basis. :D
