Int Between Player who has already scored and F2

Game I watched this weekend.

R1 on 3, R2 on 2, and R3 on 1. 2 out. ASA Rules

Batter hits a line shot up the first base line and ball goes into outfield.

R1 and R2 score, for some reason R3 origanally stops at 2nd and then goes on to third. Ball is thown from F9 to F2. At this point in time R3 is only about 10 feet away from 2nd Base running to third.

F2 attempts to field the ball (Ball hit glove) but R2 is busy milling around the plate and collides with F2 taking her out of the play.

The umpire killed the play and called the runner at third out for R2's interfearance.

Wrong ruling. R3 should have been ruled out, two runs score, half-inning over. (Assuming C had the possibility of a play on either still active runner.)

I think that's what he meant and that there was only R3 active.

How can you call a runner that has already scored out? It would have to be the runner going to 3rd.

Not to nit pick....well, okay, I'm nit picking, ;) but there were still two active runners, R3 & R4 (remember, batter got a base hit)

That is correct, point being that the "called the runner at third out " comment was about R3.

Besides, the BR was obstructed by F3 setting up for the throw and could not be put out. ;) :D :D :p

I'm sorry R3 was the runner called out. R3 was the runner standing on third after the collision. Not the Runner who scored.

Umpire ruled:

R1 and R2 score R3 is out and Inning over.

Talk about a mess, Coach wanted to talk to UIC to protest the call. Clock was stopped for about 10 minutes while the play was discussed. The team that the call went against ended up in the championship. The umpire who made that call ended up sending two of the parents to the parking lot during the championship game. They had continued to harp on the int call for three innings until he had had enough.
