Well, we off and running with the 18U AFA
Nationals. 124 teams from all over US.
No teams from outside USA this year. The
Pre-Nats, nothing more than allowing teams
from out-of-state the chance to get use to
fields they will be using, went pretty good
only minor problems.

Know most of you could care less, but just
thought I would mention it, been kinda dead
of late. Catch you in eight days. Damn,
drew the Holiday Inn room this time, not the
Hilton.

Hmmmmmmmmmm................

Glen............I saw that y'all are going with 42 umpires.........(3 man)

12 fields........that is 36 umpires.......only 6 in reserve.......ouch

All full 7 inning games (Nationals)......

That is NOT very many umps for a tournament like this.......

I hope you survive the Beaumont heat.......grin

Joel

ps......if the moneys right........and y'all get desperate.......I might be available for championships...........:D

Just returned from the Nationals
and I had the championship and the
IF game. Championship game I was
at third and the IF I was plate.
CY FAIR INTRUDERS are the 2001 AFA
champion. The heat was tough, so
were most coaches on last two days.
Had 28 games in Nats, and six in the
Pre Nats. More later........

Glen, Sounds like you worked your butt off hope that air conditioner was working well in the holiday inn room.

Tell a dummy slow-pitch ump like me what the heck does the letters AFA stand for?

Get back with us and tell us all about those wild tales and great coaches stories you must have had

Don

Don,

AFA is The American Fastpitch Association. They
have been around for 12 years now. Really just a
letters game to allow more girls to play I think.
Not much difference in the rules, a few. Age cut
off is main thing.
January 1st of current year is cutoff. In this
tournament we had 122 teams (2 teams dropped from when I
had my first post on this) average team count was
12 per and we have pool then bracket - tournament
runs from Tues to Sun, with championship normally
around 2:00. This year in the 18U for first time
in the four years I have done this age group we had
an IF game.

Long answer for what does AFA stand for, huh. :D
