My very first softball game

Was tonight (June 7). Worked a 15U game. Got my license this spring, didn't do any school ball but I'm doing summer ball. I've been a football official for many years.

Single game, worked the bases. Had close calls on all the bases and felt good about them.

Made one screwup. Play at third, runner slid in safe. I made the call and then picked up the runner at first rounding the bag. Tag was still being applied while runner was trying to keep the bag. Some chirping by the defense trying to buy an out, but PU bailed me out. Runner never left the bag. Remember FredFan7, KEEP YOUR EYE ON THE BALL! I was in C one time when I should have been in B, but corrected it after one pitch on my own.

I felt good about my signals. All in all I'd give myself a C. I'll get back to you after my first plate game!

I've found a new sport!

Congrats FF7
Welcome to your new sport. I think we have all learned as we worked and still come here to learn more. There is nothing like having your PU point to tell you that you need to move into the correct position.
Glad to have you aboard

What ruleset? I've never heard of 15U as an agegroup.

After my first game (I screwed up a big call too) I was ready to quit! Now, this is probably my favorite sport to officiate (I do basketball - my first love, too). Keep with it - it's awesome!!
