Carpet question

What is the size of the carpet the umpire places behind home plate in a co-ed city slowpitch game?

Slowpitch game in what city? (In Southern CA, I bet.)

This is not a "normal" rule practice by national organizations, so if you mention the city, perhaps someone familiar with it could help.

Small city

Its just for the city of Jamestown, NY. I just want to practice on my pitching on off practice days in my back yard. I wasn't really sure how big the mat/carpet was. I've been told its 18", 24"....I just want to be sure.

You will need to talk to the folk who run your league. "Mat ball" is a local issue.

Nasty,

With the advent of the use of the mat in most senior associations across the country (slowpitch), there has been a standardization of sorts. The mat is ordinarily sized at 17" (the width of home plate) by 24" and in most areas of the country is placed in such a manner as to transform home plate into a rectangle measuring 17" x 25 1/2". Hope this helps out.
