If a man speaks in the woods, and there is no one around to hear, is he still wrong?

You're too politically correct, Dakota. The line goes: "If a man speaks in the woods and his wife's not there to hear, is he still wrong?"

I will now sit on my porch and wait for the p.c. thought police to come and take me to a re-education camp.

NSA allows jewelry if taped or hidden under tape, that is their rule. But in NFHS ALL jewelry must be removed including jewelry hidden by tape. At the plate meeting for a NFHS game this week one of the team captains in attendance (with the head coach) had a band aid on her nose. After I had asked the coach, "Are all your players legally and properly equipped?"
"Yes they are."
I then asked the player, "What is under the band aid?
She volunteered, "My nose ring, it don't come out".
"Well you need to remove it or you can't play."
"The other umpire let me wear it." (If I ever met this other umpire, we are going to have unpleasant words.)
"Well, today on this field, you need to remove it or I can't let you play." Out it came.
I then asked the coach again, "Coach, are your players legally and properly equipped? Because if we find they are not, both you and that player will be restricted to the bench." After the plate meeting before they took to the field, I saw in the dugout at least two other girls removing some piece of jewelry.

Bottom line, we all need to enforce the same jewelry rule. Kudos to the guy who got paid to not umpire the game because he was enforcing a rule.

Bugg

Bugg,

I have to disagree with your statement about NSA jewelry rule (Assuming we're talking about Youth fastpitch) Rule 3, Section 6, Paragraph d.

"Youth Fast Pitch Only: NO JEWELRY IS ALLOWED. Medical alert ID bracelets or necklaces are allowed but should be worn and taped to the body as not to present a hazard. EFFECT: First warning for non-compliance with the NO JEWELRY RULE is A TEAM WARNING: Second warning is the immediate ejection of the offending player.

I think this is pretty clear. There is nothing anywhere else in the rule book that allows a player to hide it under tape.

I hope if watch the TV show Cops, that it's not sitting out on the front porch looking out into the neighborhood hoping it's not a re-run.

:D I hope all the blues out there carry either crosses or St. Christophers with them to the field since Fed rules say that "A religious medal must be taped and worn under the uniform."3-2-12

Speaking ASA.

If it isn't dangerous to ANOTHER player, I don't care. Even in JO, I don't believe umpires should be held to a higher responsibility than the parent or coach.

When you are trying to be funny, please include a :) or :D.

So, those of you who look under band-aids... what do you do with THIS one? Hmmmmm???

Also, this would have to put the public schools into a spin... I think I'll bring up the requirement at my next plate meeting and see what happens. :D
