Are there brands or types of knee/shin guards that you prefer?

If I'm wearing plate shoes already, I assume that means that I won't need leg guards that come with the foot extensions at the bottom that extend over the top of the feet, since the top of the feet are already protected by the plate shoes. Is that correct?

I see that there are also small shin-only guards available, that don't cover the knee at all. They look like they are for soccer, but they are listed along with the softball leg guards. We would not have any use for these in softball, would we?

Thanks again.

Advice

I have a couple of pair of shin guards that cover above the knee and down on the top of my shoes.

A year ago I got a set of Honig's shin guards that are shorter and I LOVE them. They cover the knee cap with no problem but don't go down to the ankle or on top of the foot.

In the HS baseball/softball games I do I don't NEED it to cover more than this and they are lighter and easier to use. The fact that I'm wearing high top hard toe plate shoes means I already have foot and toe protection. Best I remember they are under $50 on the Honig's site. Good luck.

Worst injury I've had was a mens B tourney and shot from the pitcher straight to my shin .. while I was wearing shin guards.. I need to get some better ones cuz that hurt for months.

You'll here me say this all the time but I have alot of the Pro Nine equipment,HSM,shinguards, and protector and they ALL are first rate and a steal for the price you can find them for at most places. Just my opinion.

Knee/Shin Guards

I use + POS BB315 - LEG GUARDS, Ultra-Pro Model. The are light weight and I like the protection they give for shots above the knee.
