With runners on first & third, pitchet with poss. of ball, inside circle, fakes throw to first, befor assuming her position to pitch on pitching plate. Is the runner on third released to advance with this fake to first?

Anytime the pitcher makes a play, and faking a throw is considered making a play, for the purpose of the look back rule, the runners are released.

"When are runners released?"

When bail is posted.

Obviously to us, maybe not all, in a "stealing" rules game.

I thought runners were released when the official fires the pistol into the air.

Perhaps we umpires all need to be strapped with 9mm's or something. Fire it off when the fielder touches the fly ball.

*ducks and runs away now* :D
