Hey, come on!
Italy is NOT in the USA :D :D How could I join this?? A. |
I was just thinking the same thing .
Although I have heard that a lot of yanks think that the USA is the world . |

You really don't think the "A" in USA stands for America, do you? :) |

Is there a "Rome" somewhere? So that I could be more precise!! That's fun, my friends... Out of jokes: I think it's great to be an umpire also because you can feel home... wherever softball is. To debeau: don't be rough. At least you and me and anyone else are 'host' in this softball forum. A place where we can learn a HUGE quantity of information, a place we are not able to find in our homeland. A forum 'Made in USA'... Be polite with 'yanks'. :) A. |

Yep, We have a Rome in Georgia. The zip code is 30161. You are welcome to become an Honarary Citizen. Buddy. |
No need to abandon your home country, if your home country doesn't happen to be good ol' U.S. of A.
That intractive map is a WORLD map. Just click the arrows in the upper left-hand corner and you'll whiz right across the Atlantic and into the old country. |
;)
THANK YOU! Though I'm honored for being considered a candidate for a honorary citizenship... I pointed my REAL hometown on the map. It is 60 Km southern of Rome. Very close to Anzio (is there someone, ah - well, 'mature' enough to remember it was a very special place for World War II?); you can clearly see the American Cemetery on the map (if you enlarge enough). Nettuno is well known in Old Continent because of Baseball... in fact the very best place for SOFTBALL is up in the north, all around Milan you can find the best tournaments. Just to show you something here... :) Ciao a tutti! A. |
Oh well as stated previously there is a town/city in Texas named after me
Beaumont . Well maybe I am being big headed there and I am sure the place is a lot older than me . At least I hope so . |

Texas is SO BIG they have a Rome AND an Italy. |

I greatly enjoyed being homeported in Gaeta from 1988-90. Visted Nettuno several times, and I'd like to go back for another visit. |

This is REALLY a small world! Nice to 'meet' you on the web. And if you'll ever come back here, let me know in advance! I've never been in USA. Though I worked with many (very, very good) umpires from USA. I don't want to forget someone... BTW from this forum I say 'hello' to Sonny Pompilii (Philadelphia), Joe Massaro (New Jersey), Jim Lykins (Las Vegas) and Lisa Rudloff (Arizona). A. |

This is GREAT!!! We have 55 of us on the map so far!!! Also its nice to see more of us add pics of ourselves on or off the field- I just added a pic of me in 'action' (NYASABlue)...lets all do this too! For those who haven't seen the map yet go to http://www.frappr.com/officialforumsoftball
way cool stuff..... |
For your entertainment...I posted a photo too...It's at my Mother-in-law's lake and I'm on the right. The "little" guy on the left is my little brother. Every year the pier we are standing on needs to be taken out (usually in late October) and put back in (in early April).
Yeah, the water is cold. Oh yeah, I'm 6'3" |
Just wanted give this a bump by saying the list is up to <b>72</b> now! Thanks to all who have added themselves, and lets see if we can get a few more 'action' pics posted....
http://www.frappr.com/officialforumsoftball I am surprised that there arent many of us from California or Florida..or are least ones that have listed themselves... Lou |

<b>81</b> now.....

Darn straight I was 10 feet away. Maybe not quite 10 feet, but I remember this play. Originally had to be far enough back to have all elements of play in front of me, including the catch by the right fielder, tag up by runner at third, etc. So I had moved back to the fence and up the line (known as the holding area - you can look it up) so I could see all I needed to see without so much as a slight head turn... Plus I had to make up for those who can't seem to get out from behind the plate no matter what...not that we have any of those... Plus, it's much easier to not call crow hops from there. |

"Plus, it's much easier to not call crow hops from there." "Now don't start that again!" The buzzard from The Jungle Book |
Actually, rumor has it that my wife went to Honig's down in Oregon, and John (great guy that he is) found a Crow Hop Detector on one of the shelves in the back, sold it to my wife for a buck, and that's what I am getting for Christmas!!! Wooo Hoooooooooooooooo!!!!!
I just hope my rotator cuff doesn't wear out on me from calling all those millions of IPs I have been missing over the years. |

We also always have some tournaments of New Years |

Hey Rachel
Nice pic that you put on the frapper site - but did you know that the catcher had her eyes closed? |
Yeah, It's a good thing the girl hit the ball. This photo was taken from the outfield in the state high school championship game by a company who does highlight photos. Another photo of me from this game was actually in Referee magazine last August.
