Just curious...just started hs volleyball this fall-God,talk about STEALING...we get the same fee for modified (the NYS term for 7th/8th grade sports) v-ball as softball,but...you work about half the games...er...matches alone..and it lasts at MOST an hour....actually got a DOUBLE match alone-about $155 for 1 hour 15 minutes of actual game time....holy cow...

Softball / Football / Baseball, in that order. Baseball only as a fill-in (although they consider me a "rules-guy" over there too).

I currently work Volleyball and FP softball.

Retired from Basketball a few years ago...legs couldn't take the pounding on the hardwood any more.

Softball & Baseball here - though baseball is as a fill-in (7 BB games this year out of a little over 240).

Softball, Football, Basketball, Volleyball and Baseball in that order, hence my moniker.

I did eight years of High School Football. I had fun but I got out of it because it got so it took so much of my time. Softball Slow pitch and Fast. Mostly slow pitch lately. I did my first season of Basketball last year. I did rec league, I am going to do Middle School ball this year.

Football, FP Softball, Basketball, Baseball and after hearing about what Volleyball off. make I'll be doing that next year.

FUBLUE Mon Oct 31, 2005 03:08pm

Do almost solely softball now.

Have worked Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Wrestling and Baseball...now only as a fill-in official...did 3 basketball games last year...2 football games...1 baseball game...nothing else.

I know one of the volleyball honchos...she also does softball...I need to give her a call. Actually some of my buddies in Idaho were talkin about some of the outright thievery...And another someone told me that for working lines in the college games you get $40 a match. I can do that...

Oh, as far as this thread goes, I used to do football and basketball and a whole lotta baseball. I snuck in two baseball games this year...sssssshhhhh don't tell....

Currently football in fall and only high school softball
in the spring. Used to work baseball too back north and
a lot of slo-pitch and fast pitch rec ball too !
I plan on working to age 70 if my health allows and
hang 'em all up then ! I'm 66 now and slowing down.

I'm 66 now and slowing down.

Right behind you just turning 65. FP softball in spring and summer, VB in the winter the past couple years. No more running up and down the court; stand still and let the game come to you.

However, putting in 8 - 10 hour days for tournaments can be quite taxing.

Pay is less than SB, but frequent quads and tournaments gets you a lot more matches per season than you get games in a softball season.

Baseball

In the past, there was soccer (got too old & slow) & auto racing (life changes).

Am too involved with football otherwise to referee & do it right. Can't keep up with the kids at basketball on 2 bad knees!

You drove a blue car? Or a black and white striped car? What is the penalty for obstruction? :D
